A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to motor vehicles parked on public streets without license plates or registration stickers
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Chapter 1 of title 14 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 14-176 to read as follows:
§ 14-176 Parking violation for motor vehicles without license plates or registration stickers. a. It shall be unlawful for any natural person or business entity that owns title to, has possession of, or maintains control of a motor vehicle to park, or allow to be parked, such vehicle on public street or sidewalk without a license plate or a registration sticker attached.
b. Any natural person who violates this section shall be punished by a fine of not less than fifty dollars nor more than two hundred fifty dollars, imprisonment for not more than ten days, or both, and any business entity, including a co-partnership, firm, company, association, joint stock association, corporation or other like organization that violates this section shall be punished by a fine of not less than two hundred fifty dollars nor more than five hundred dollars for each such violation, which may be recoverable in a proceeding before a tribunal of the office of administrative trials and hearings, pursuant to chapter 45-A of the charter.
§ 2. This local law takes effect immediately.
