Notes: District 15 - Council Member - Democrat - Bedford Park, Fordham, Mount Hope, Bathgate, Belmont, East Tremont, West Farms, Van Nest, Allerton, Olinville - Oswald is a lifelong resident of the Bronx, who proudly represents the 15th Council District – which includes the neighborhoods of Fordham, Belmont, East Tremont, West Farms, Van Nest, and Allerton. Prior to becoming a City Councilmember, Oswald worked as a tenant lawyer, and successfully defended Bronx residents in eviction and landlord harassment cases. Oswald represented a tenant association in a building-wide case against a landlord who failed to keep their building in good condition, and negotiated a settlement wherein tenants received approximately $100,000 from their landlord due to the conditions. Prior to becoming a Councilmember, Oswald also served as an adjunct professor at Hostos Community College, where he had the privilege of teaching reading and writing to disadvantaged students in the Bronx. Oswald is a proud graduate of public schools in the Bronx, including P.S.46, M.S.45, Walton High School, Bronx Community College, and Lehman College. Eventually, he attended law school and obtained a law degree from CUNY School of Law. As Councilmember, Oswald is dedicated to improving his home of the Bronx. He is committed to ensuring that access to good schools, safe streets, and opportunity, is not determined based on the neighborhood that you live in.
