A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to prohibiting the sale of glue traps

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

Section 1. Chapter 4 of title 20 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new subchapter 17 to read as follows:

SUBCHAPTER 17

GLUE TRAPS

§ 20-699.40 Glue trap prohibition. a. Definitions. For purposes of this subchapter, the term “glue trap” means any device that uses a non-drying adhesive material to capture rodents or other animals larger than a rodent.

b. Prohibited conduct. No person shall sell, offer for sale, or distribute any glue trap.

c. Penalties. Any person that violates subdivision b of this section is subject to a civil penalty of not more than $500 for each violation. Each failure to comply with subdivision b of this section with respect to any one stock keeping unit offered for sale, sold, or distributed constitutes a separate violation.

§ 2. This local law takes effect 1 year after it becomes law.
