A Local Law to amend the New York city charter, in relation to requiring the Director of the Mayor's Office of Veterans' Affairs to send annual written notice to all veterans within New York City informing them of federal, State and City benefits to which veterans and their families are entitled.
 
 
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Subdivision c of section 14 of the New York city charter is amended by amending paragraph 2 and adding a new paragraph 3 to read as follows:
2.  shall utilize, so far as possible, the services, commissions, boards, bureaus, institutions and other agencies of the state and of the political subdivisions thereof and all such officers and agencies shall cooperate with and extend such services and facilities to the office as it may require;
      3. shall send an annual written notice, in such form and manner as determined by the director, to all veterans living within the city of New York, informing such veterans of federal, state, and city benefits to which veterans and their families are entitled, and shall make the information contained in such notice available on its website.  The office shall also make available on its website a mechanism by which veterans and their families can request to receive the annual written notice required by this paragraph.  
§2. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or other portion of this local law is for any reason declared unconstitutional or invalid, in whole or in part, by any court of competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed severable, and such unconstitutionality or invalidity shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this local law, which remaining portions shall continue in full force and effect.
