RESOLUTION NO. 1792

 

Resolution affirming the designation by the Landmarks Preservation Commission of St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church (The Church of Our Lady of the Scapular & St. Stephen), located at 151 East 28th Street a.k.a.141-155 East 28th Street and 144-152 East 29th Street (Block 884, part of Lot 30), Borough of Manhattan, Designation List No. 406, LP-2259; Preconsidered L.U. No. 962; 20095201 HKM; N 090188 HKM).

WHEREAS, the Landmarks Preservation Commission filed with the Council on November 5, 2008 a copy of its designation dated October 28, 2008 (the "Designation"), of St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church (The Church of Our Lady of the Scapular & St. Stephen), located at 151 East 28th Street a.k.a.141-155 East 28th Street and 144-152 East 29th Street, Community District 6, Borough of Manhattan, as a landmark and Block 884, part of Lot 30, as its landmark site pursuant to Section 3020 of the New York City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the Designation is subject to review by the Council pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter;

 

WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission submitted to the Council on December 19, 2008 its report on the Designation dated December 17, 2008 (the "Report");

 

WHEREAS, upon due notice, the Council held a public hearing on the Designation on January 13, 2009; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council has considered the land use implications and other policy issues relating to the Designation;

 

RESOLVED:

 

Pursuant to Section 3020 of the City Charter, and on the basis of the information and materials contained in the Designation and the Report, the Council affirms the Designation.
