A Local Law to amend the New York city charter, in relation to prohibiting the use of taxpayer monies for holiday, anniversary, and congratulation greetings in newspaper advertisements by city elected officials.

 

Be it enacted by the Council as follows:

 

                     Section 1. Subdivision b of section 2604 of the New York City charter is hereby amended to add a new paragraph 16 to read as follows:

                     (16) No public servant shall use city funds to purchase or effect the purchase of, any holiday, anniversary, birthday, or any other congratulatory greeting in any newspaper, magazine or other paid print media advertisement.

                     §2. This local law shall become effective immediately after it shall be approved by the voters at the next general election held after its enactment.
